We are now through the Big July 4th Weekend... It was a bit of a challenge weather wise but by all accounts still a very enjoyable and fun filled weekend... Melville's Campground put on their yearly Golf Cart Parade with many Carts in the Parade as well as Folks lining the Streets grabbing the candy being tossed to the Kids. The Tunes and Pontoons Event put by the Zars Family was fantastic 💥🎉 Many Boats and Floaters in the water as well as Folks on the shore enjoyed
some Great Music and maybe a Cocktail or 2 🍺🍷🍸 Many boats were out on the Lakes tubing, skiing, cruising, and fishing... The weather didn't stop those activities just had to work in between the raindrops... Unfortunately the rain on Saturday night caused the Campground to postpone their Fireworks 💥 As of now they are planning to have their Fireworks Show on Friday July 10th at dusk. The BFL annual Boat Parade scheduled for Saturday July 5th also was cancelled because of the rain and strong possibility of thunderstorms during the parade. This event will continue next summer as always. We had our second BFLPOA Meeting on Saturday July 4th. The Board meeting was at 8:30am followed by the Members meeting at 10am. Topics included the summer lake events as well as the latest weed treatment that was done in late June. These Meetings are the way for Lake Residents to have their voices heard and to let the Board know your concerns. It would be great to see more people take advantage of this process. Our next (and last) meeting of the season will be Saturday September 5th at The Rock at 10am.
The Annual BFL Picnic is the next Event and will be on Sat. July 18th from 1 - 5pm at Penn Grove on Red Run Road. This is a Great way to celebrate 🎉 with family, friends, and lake neighbors. There will be a band, tip boards, 50/50 drawing as well as other drawings, kids waterslide, great food and drinks. The Lake Association will provide pulled pork, beer, pop, and water. Each family is asked to bring a dish,salad, or dessert to share. You may also bring your favorite drinks or cocktails if you would like. It's $5 per person or $20 per family to attend. Be sure to bring some 💰 cash with you so you can participate in the tip boards and drawings. The Association will also have plates, napkins, and cutlery for you to use. Volunteers are welcome and appreciated for setting up (Friday 7/17 at 5pm) and cleanup (7/19 at 10am). Also, we need prizes donated for the tip boards and drawings if you are willing. You could drop them off at The Bierbaum's house (50070 Red Run Road) before the Picnic or just bring them with you to the Picnic. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to seeing a record crowd at The 2026 BFL Picnic. As always you are encouraged to check out our "New and Improved" Website (bigfishlake.org) for more details and information about Big Fish Lake and Events and other Great information concerning BFL. We still have 2 other Lake Events after the Picnic... The Poker Run in August and The Fall Party in October. Please see the Website for details. The Purpose of the Big Fish Lake Property Owners Association is to protect the vested interests and all riparian and property rights of the owners of property abutting on, and with access to, Big Fish Lake and connecting waters. To Preserve the beauty of the lake, the native wildlife, and the purity of its waters. To Promote effective zoning laws, public health ordinances and regulations. To Practice consideration, communication, commitment, cooperation and camaraderie among members, our neighbors, and the surrounding community.
